Botox® injections can rejuvenate an aging face, by relaxing the muscles that create wrinkles, to give you a more rested and youthful look.
Introduced over thirty years ago, Botox® can temporarily smooth moderate to severe dynamic wrinkles that result from smiling or frowning, such as: crow's feet, smile lines, glabella furrows (between the brows), forehead creases (frontalis muscle), platysmal bands (neck), upper lip furrows and "smokers lines." Sometimes headaches that are caused by frequent frowning may be relieved following Botox® injections.
Botox® is a safe, non-surgical approach to facial rejuvenation. The treatment takes only a few minutes, there is little discomfort, and no recovery time is needed.
BOTOX® is FDA-approved for the treatment of severe underarm sweating that is not adequately managed with topical agents. BOTOX® treatment helps control this condition by temporarily blocking the chemical signals from the nerves that stimulate the sweat glands. When the sweat glands don't receive chemical signals, the severe sweating stops.
Through over fifteen years of use, the most commonly reported side-effect is slight tenderness at the injection site. Botox® takes just minutes to inject and its' effects usually last for six months or longer. There's no recovery period required following Botox® injections; patients can resume their normal activities immediately.

Botox® is a dilute, purified form of Botulinum toxin that is an extremely effective muscle relaxant.
Botox® Cosmetic is a non-surgical approach to facial rejuvenation; anesthesia
is not required for Botox injections. Botox® works very effectively to eliminate
the appearance of facial wrinkles that occur from aging or overuse. A
few drops of Botox® are injected
with a tiny needle into the muscle that creates the wrinkle. Botox®
inactivates the muscles that produce wrinkles, thereby causing the lines
to disappear or dramatically diminish. Botox® is ideal for improving
and smoothing the skin between the eyebrows, the lines of the forehead, and
the crow's feet area around the eyes.
Botox® is used on the face, only around the eyes and forehead so as not to affect a patient's smile. It is important to understand that Botox® works by relaxing overactive facial muscles that cause wrinkles. Your skin will feel the same and you will have normal sensation in all treated areas. Muscles that are not treated, and related to other facial expressions, are not affected.
Applying a topical anesthetic cream or ice for several minutes prior to the treatment will effectively numb the area. When the Botox® is injected, you may feel a slight stinging sensation that quickly subsides. Once the injection is complete, the nurse applies an ice compress and the discomfort disappears.
Botox® has been used safely and successfully since the early 1990's. Although it is a toxin, Botox is safe and no serious side effects have been reported. The most common minor complication is a slight and temporary drooping of the eyelid. Botox® is used in extremely small amounts and does not spread throughout the body. It is administered during an office visit, and you can resume full activity immediately.
• Botox® is a quick and effective way to remove wrinkles. A typical treatment
takes 10 minutes. Results are seen within 4 to 7 days.
• Immediately can resume full activity. There is no physical evidence that
you had a cosmetic procedure done.
• The effect of Botox® is reversible—lasting between 3 to 9 months depending
on the number of previous treatments.
•A memory response may develop with repeated Botox® injections if they are
done every 3 months over a one year period. Although the effects are not permanent,
there may be a gradual lengthening of the time interval needed between treatments.
This will mean fewer treatments to obtain the same effect.
Botox® is suited for almost anyone who desires a more rested and youthful look. An added benefit is preventing further etching of the skin caused by repeated squinting, frowning, and creasing of the forehead. Patients who are pregnant, breastfeeding or have a neurological disease should not be treated with Botox.
